Rodney Strong Vineyards Newsletter

Greetings Collector’s Circle Members!

As we wrap up the 2013 harvest here at Rodney Strong Vineyards, we’ve been reflecting on what an interesting growing season it has been. As a result of the temperate-to-warm weather we received during the spring and summer, harvest came on fast and furious. While Mother Nature typically ripens our grapes at a slow and steady pace, this year she was in a hurry. Soon, our winemakers realized that all of the grape varietals were ripening at once! Cabernet Sauvignon is usually harvested in October, but this year it was picked in the middle of September, right alongside Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. That said, we are confident that it will be an excellent vintage.

By the time you read this, our 2013 will be safely in barrel, and our winemakers will be breathing a bit easier. But they’re not the only ones who have been busy these last few months. The tasting room has been bustling with visitors who have come to enjoy the beauty of Sonoma County during the autumn season. We also hosted two great events in September, including a Grape Stomp Competition and a vineyard dinner at Rockaway Vineyard in Alexander Valley. These days, we’re gearing up for the holidays. We hope you’ll keep us in mind if you’re looking for a special gift. (A wine club membership makes a great gift!)

This holiday season, we decided to make your wine club shipment extra special by including our 2010 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon from Alexander Valley. It’s deep, rich, and perfect for family gatherings. We are also excited to include our 2011 Estate Syrah from Dry Creek Valley, which was made just for Collector’s Circle members. Be sure to try it with the recipe provided, as they are a perfect pairing. (PS Members can take advantage of special pricing on this wine through December 31, 2013)
